Eli, Jesse, Henry or Lawrence was an American Negro who played between 1923 - 1955 for the Kansas City Monarchs. The Kansas City Monarchs were a prominent team in the Negro Leagues, a league that provided opportunities for African American baseball players during a time of racial segregation.
